- Erin Szulewski (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown), Stacey Lepes (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional), Amanda Eller (Delmont,
N.J./Millville), and Christine Altland (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan), crossed the finish line in first place in the 4x1600 meter relay in 21:36.92, which is second in school history.
Metro Coaches Invitational
- The 4x800 team of sophomore Emily MacEwen (South Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) , graduate student Christina Nelson (Little
Silver, N.J./Red Bank [Maryland]), sophomore Danielle Toritto (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) and sophomore Amanda Eller (Delmont, N.J./Millville) finished first with a time of 9:23.83, an ECAC qualifying mark, and the third best time in school history.
Dual Meet vs Rider University
- Rutecki took the top spot in the 500 meter dash, finishing in 1:20.82 followed by sophomore Danielle Toritto (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown
East) who finished in 1:20.90.
- Graduate student Christina Nelson (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank [Maryland]) crossed the finish line in 5:11.37 in the mile run to claim
first.
- Sophomore Amanda Eller (Delmont, N.J./Millville) finished first overall in the 800 meter run in 2:20.25 followed by classmate Emily
MacEwen (South Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) who crossed the finish line .31 seconds later in 2:20.56, good for second in the event.
- The distance medley team of Eller, Walsh, MacEwen and Nelson took first with a time of 12:23.66.
Great Dane
- Graduate student Christina Nelson (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank) recorded a time of 2:55.31 in the 1000 meter run, good for second
overall and qualified for ECAC Championships. Sophomore Amanda Eller (Delmont, N.J./Millville) crossed the finish line seventh with a time of 3:03.32.
Terrier Classic
- Christina Nelson (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank lead the women's team setting the MU record in the 800 meter run. Nelson claimed the
top spot in the 800 meter run finishing in 2:11.46, which qualifies her for the ECAC championships in March. Her time sets the new Monmouth school record in the event, erasing Taryn Phelps' time of 2:15.66 set in 2001.
- Sophomore Emily MacEwen (South Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) moves one spot behind Nelson in the record books, with the
second best time in school history of 2:15.59, good for seventh overall. Amanda Eller (Delmont, N.J./Millville) registered a 13th place finish, as the sophomore crossed the finish line in 2:17.70.
- The women's distance medley team of sophomore Amanda Eller (Delmont, N.J./Millville), sophomore Rachel Watkins (Oakland, N.J.
/Indian Hills) , sophomore Emily MacEwen (South Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) and graduate Christina Nelson (Little Silver, N.J. (Red Bank) qualified for the ECAC Championships with their second place finish, posting a time of 11:53.77, which places them second all-time in school history.
NEC Track Athlete of the Week - For the Week of 2/1/2011
Christina Nelson, Monmouth Gr., Mid-Distance, Little Silver, NJ/Red Bank
Nelson took over the top spot on the NEC performance list in the 800-meter run, and breaks Jessie Gaines’ streak of NEC Track Athlete of the Week awards as a result. Running the event for the first time this season, Nelson claimed gold at the Boston University Terrier Classic. She crossed the line in 2:11.46 to edge out Dartmouth’s Christina Supino and Rhode Island’s Brittany Pelsue for the meet title. Nelson’s time is well under the qualifying standard (2:14.44) for the ECAC Championships in March. Set to make he NEC Championship debut on February 12, Nelson became the first MU Hawk to win the indoor track weekly award since Michelle Losey held the honor on four occasions during the 2009-10 campaign. (Freshman shot putter Rachel Aliotta brought the NEC field award back to Monmouth last week.)
MU Blue & White Invitational
- Underclassmen took the top two spots in the mile run, as freshman Lucia Montefusco (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) and sophomore Stacey
Lepes (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) finished in 5:19.54 and 5:24.37. Kelsey Maher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) took fifth as the sophomore finished in 5:31.31.
- Rutecki was the runner up in the 500 meter dash finishing in 1:19.39 followed by sophomore Danielle Toritto (Smithtown, N.Y.
/Smithtown East) and freshman Lyndsy Horn (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca), who registered times of 1:20.02 and 1:22.25, good for third and fourth, respectively.
Northeast Conference Championships
- The distance medley squad of sophomore Amanda Eller (Delmont, N.J./Millville), freshman Mercedes Yanora (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy
Redeemer Wilkes-Barre), sophomore Emily MacEwen (South Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) and graduate student Christina Nelson (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank set the new conference record with their first place finish, finishing three seconds faster than the standard set in 2005, with a time of 12:09.43.
- Nelson took first in the mile run finishing in 5:06.73 trailed by freshman distance runner Lucia Montefucso (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) who
recorded a time of 5:15.34, good for seventh. Nelson also recorded a second place finish in the 800 meter run crossing the finish line in 2: 20.47. Eller and MacEwen finished in fourth and fifth recording times of 2:21.23 and 2:22.59, respectively.
Armory Collegiate Challenge
- Emily MacEwen (South Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) registered a time of 2:15.17 in the 800 meter run placing the sophomore fourth overall.
- Sophomore Amanda Eller (Delmont, N.J./Millville) crossed the finish line in 2:57.40 to claim fifth in the 1000 meter run.
- Sophomore Danielle Toritto (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) ran 1:17.30 in the 500 meter dash to finish ninth overall.
